A Day In the Life
Here is what a day can look like for a NEWydd Catering Assistant at one of our schools -
10.00am – Arrive, get changed, sign in, complete any HACCP records required by cook/site supervisor at that time.
10.15am – work under guidance from line manager – general food preparation tasks, put deliveries away, set dining room up ready for service, check menu’s. check food orders entered for the day, check any allergen or special diet requests. Set out service utensils and again complete HACCP requirements.
12.00noon – Serve lunch to pupils and staff, engaging with pupils and ensuring their lunchtime experience is enjoyable.
12.45pm – clean up dining room, wipe tables, brush floors, spot mop where required, empty bins
1.00pm – finish – Clean down kitchen, including floors, pot wash, work services and fridges and freezers. Complete HACCP requirements.
Sign Out & Finish, leaving kitchen area clean and secure.
At all times working in a safe manner in line with Food Hygiene and Health and Safety  guidance and regulations – reporting anything that does not meet the required standard.
